2026-03-14 - 00:04

MTN FA Cup committee chairman Wilson Arthur has outlined new additions introduced to the competition this season to enhance the experience for clubs and players. Arthur revealed that teams exchanged pennants before kickoff in the Round of 16, while the best player in every match receives a plaque. The initiatives aim to create lasting memories for participating clubs and reward outstanding performances on the pitch. According to Arthur, the pennants will serve as souvenirs that clubs can keep to mark their participation in the prestigious domestic competition. "In the round of 16 we introduced pennants so the teams exchanged souvenir pennants. In the future, the club can say I once played in the FA Cup this season this is my souvenir," he told Peace FM as monitored by Ghanasoccernet.com "Also most valuable player too we are giving plaques that too we dont usually do that this is the first time we have added that." Meanwhile, the FA Cup quarterfinal matches will take place on Saturday, March 14, and Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Nana Fosu Gyeabuor Park in Techiman and the Cape Coast Stadium. Former champions Medeama SC and Dreams FC are among the teams hoping to reach the semifinals. However, they face stiff opposition from last season’s semifinalists Attram De Visser and Kpando Heart of Lions. Elsewhere, Aduana FC will face Division One League side Techiman Liberty Youth in Techiman on Saturday, while Nations FC meet Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.
