'We're not going to make up the numbers' â?? Jordan Ayew vows Ghana will compete at 2026 World Cup

Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has declared that the Black Stars are heading to the 2026 FIFA World Cup with ambition, determined to make a lasting impression rather than simply participate. The four-time African champions have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia for the tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Ayew made it clear that the squad carries high expectations. "We are going to the World Cup to give our very best. We want to put on a show and, hopefully, achieve the results we are aiming for," he said. "We are not just going to the USA to make up the numbers." The captain called for unity and belief as Ghana prepares for its fifth World Cup appearance. "We will stay humble and focused, and hopefully we can dream of achieving big things. We need positive energy around the team, and we will do everything we can to make the nation proud." Ghana will fine-tune preparations with high-profile friendlies against Germany and Austria this month, followed by a clash with Wales in June, nine days before the tournament kicks off. Otto Addo's side will be eager to improve on their 2022 World Cup campaign, which ended at the group stage in Qatar. Send your news stories to [email protected] and via WhatsApp on +233 546310076.
