Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale has made a generous donation of $100,000 to the Black Stars World Cup fundraising campaign, adding to the growing list of contributions as the nation rallies behind the team. The donation was announced during the fundraising event at the Kempinski Hotel on Friday night, where individuals and corporate bodies pledged significant amounts to support Ghana's preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Shatta Wale's contribution follows a $101,000 pledge from fellow musician Stonebwoy, which included $81,000 in cash and $20,000 worth of music services. The funds are designated to help fly Ghanaian supporters to the tournament, ensuring the Black Stars have fan backing in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The headline sponsorship came from Engineers & Planners, the mining firm owned by Ibrahim Mahama, which committed $5 million. Gold Fields also pledged $2 million, with an additional $1 million for next year. President John Dramani Mahama, who launched the fundraising campaign, also announced government support for interested television stations to acquire World Cup broadcast rights, ensuring Ghanaians can follow the team's campaign. Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto.
