Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has praised the qualities of Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer following his late call-up to the Black Stars squad for the friendlies against Austria and Germany. Königsdörffer was drafted in as a replacement for the injured Iñaki Williams and Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Asante Twum believes the Hamburg forward's versatility will be a valuable asset for Otto Addo. "He brings a different variety of skill sets to the team. He can play on the left and on the right. He can also play behind the striker. And in difficult situations, he can also play as a centre forward. These are the qualities he brings to the team. So yes, his presence will do a lot of good to us," he said. The GFA spokesperson explained that the technical team is carefully weighing options in the attacking third. "The coach is weighing several options. He is looking for players with different skill sets. He is looking for players who can give him options on the wings. In the attacking third." Asante Twum also noted that Königsdörffer's familiarity with the opponents could prove beneficial. "He is also not new to the two teams we are playing. Most of these Austrian players play in Germany, and we will also play against Germany, where he was born. He's been in different leagues in Germany and now plays for Hamburg in the Bundesliga." The 24-year-old has been one of Hamburg's standout performers this season, featuring in 26 matches and scoring four goals. "I think he has the quality to push for this side, especially in these two matches," Asante Twum added. Ghana will face Austria on March 27 in Vienna before taking on Germany in Stuttgart three days later in crucial World Cup preparation fixtures.
