Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo backs Milot Pokuaa for Black Queens return

Former Black Queens head coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo has thrown her weight behind Hasaacas Ladies forward Milot Pokuaa, insisting the talented attacker has what it takes to return to the national team fold after a four-year injury layoff. Pokuaa has not featured for the Black Queens since suffering a brutal knee injury in 2021 that required multiple surgeries and kept her sidelined for four years. But she has been in scintillating form for Hasaacas Ladies this season, scoring twice in their Women's FA Cup semi-final victory and netting the winner against Army Ladies in the league to send her side to the top of the table. Tagoe-Quarcoo, who handed Pokuaa her first Black Queens call-up, believes the forward's natural ability will carry her back to the national team. "She's naturally a very good player, and with a little push and polish, I don't think Milot will not be able to play for the Black Queens again, irrespective of what surgeries she's gone through,"** she told SuperSport. "She had the injury; she had to go through surgeries, so it impeded her progress in terms of the national teams. She played for the U17s and U20s, so the transition was going well until she had the injury. It is my prayer that God should see her through to get over this impediment." Pokuaa's return to form has been one of the standout stories of the domestic women's season, and Tagoe-Quarcoo believes a national team recall would provide the perfect boost. "Now she's gotten another chance to continue with her career, and it's my prayer she gets called up to the national team. That would be a morale booster for her to exhibit what she has as a football player." With Hasaacas Ladies chasing silverware on multiple fronts, Pokuaa's resurgence could soon earn her a long-awaited return to the Black Queens setup.
