Patric Pfeiffer has received his first call-up to the Ghana squad after completing his nationality switch, ending a long wait to represent the Black Stars. The 26-year-old centre-back, who is currently on the books of FC Augsburg and returned to SV Darmstadt 98 in 2025, has been named in the squad by head coach Otto Addo for the upcoming friendlies against Austria and Germany. Pfeiffer, who was born in Germany, will hope to make his debut against his birth country when Ghana face Germany in Stuttgart on March 30. The towering defender, who stands at 1.96 metres, previously represented Germany U19 and Germany U18 before committing his international future to Ghana. He received his Ghanaian passport in 2024, clearing the final administrative hurdle that had delayed his eligibility despite declaring for Ghana earlier. Pfeiffer first expressed his intention to represent Ghana in 2022, but the process stalled due to incomplete paperwork. With the documentation now finalised, the defender is set to join the Black Stars for the first time and compete for a place in the team’s backline as Ghana prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ghana will face Austria in Vienna on March 27 before travelling to Stuttgart to play Germany three days later. Send your news stories to [email protected] and via WhatsApp on +233 546310076.
