Ghanaian striker Elvis Amoh delivered the decisive blow as Loudoun United FC edged West Chester United 2–1 in the US Open Cup first round at the YSC Sports Complex. Amoh struck in the 21st minute, doubling Loudoun’s early advantage after Marcos Dias had opened the scoring inside three minutes. Loudoun started with real intent, pressing high and immediately putting the hosts under pressure. Dias’ early goal settled the visitors, and Amoh’s composed finish midway through the first half gave them what looked like a comfortable cushion at the break. The Ghanaian led the line with power and intelligence, constantly offering an outlet and stretching West Chester’s backline. West Chester improved after halftime, throwing more men forward and finally pulling one back through Jackson Martin in the 84th minute to set up a tense finale. Loudoun, however, managed the closing stages well, defending their box with determination to see out the win. The victory sends Loudoun United into the next round and offers a timely confidence boost. They now return to USL Championship action with an away trip to Miami FC on Saturday, March 21.
